Awards
Over the years, PRS affiliated and managed communities have been honored with numerous awards recognizing their superior design, development, construction, and programming.
Mirabella in Portland, Oregon, received the highest design honor, a Merit Award, from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Design for Aging Review program. PRS shares the award with Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects of Portland, Oregon, an urban design and planning firm best known for its work in
Portland’s River and Pearl Districts. The AIA Design for Aging Review is held in partnership with the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. As one of only 10 to receive this award, Mirabella Portland was featured in the companion publication for the review, Design for Aging Review, 9th Edition, which came out in fall 2008.
Rogue Valley Manor in Medford, Oregon, has been
honored as a Silver Medal winner for the Best of Seniors’ Housing Design in two separate categories. The awards, which recognize architectural and interior designs that have brought quality, innovation, and spirit to the field of senior housing, are presented each year at the National Association of Home Builders Show. The first Silver Medal was presented to the Manor for being the best large Continuing Care Retirement Community; the second Silver Medal was to recognize Skyline Plaza for having the best design of common areas within the community.
The Manor has also won the Gold Key Award for excellence in senior-living design. The award, which is co-sponsored by Hospitality Design and Lodging magazines, recognizes designers of restaurants, lodging properties, and senior-living facilities for their outstanding achievement in design.
University Retirement Community (URC), our affiliate in Davis, California, was presented with the Gold Key Grand Prize Award for Excellence in Design. The award, which is co-sponsored by Hospitality Design and Lodging magazines, recognizes designers of restaurants, lodging properties, and senior living facilities for their outstanding achievement in design.
URC has also been honored with two Gold Medals in the Best of Seniors’ Housing Design Awards competition. This award recognizes architectural and interior designs that bring quality, innovation, and spirit to the field of senior housing.
In addition, URC has received the Gold Nugget Award for outstanding architectural design. The oldest and largest program of its kind, the Gold Nugget honors creative achievements in architectural design and land-use planning for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Saratoga Retirement Community, our managed CCRC in Saratoga, California, was presented with the Gold Nugget Award for Best Adaptive Re-Use in the remodel and renovation of the historic Manor building originally built by the IOOF in 1912. In July 2008, Saratoga Retirement Community was notified that it had been honored with a Community Service Award for aiding local and state economic development efforts. The award celebrates a decade of the most important new construction and renovation projects that were completed between 2000 and 2009. Delegates chose each Community Service Award winner from tens of thousands of submissions. Winning projects were chosen for the impact they made in their respective communities.
PRS Community Housing, our affiliate that manages affordable senior housing communities, has twice been honored with awards. The American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging presented Glenridge Terrace in Medford, Oregon, with the Community Service to Youth at Risk Award for outstanding work in linking community resources with a learning center to assist residents of all ages in accessing services.
In addition, PRS Community Housing has been recognized by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as being among the nation’s top providers of quality affordable senior housing. The recognition came as part of HUD’s first-ever nationwide inspection of federally assisted housing facilities.
