Becky Snyder of Pacific Retirement Services Honored Locally and Nationally for Service to the Community

As the executive director of PRS’s Community Services division, Snyder oversees the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and the Foster Grandparent Program sponsored by Pacific Retirement Services.

(Medford, Oregon) January 12, 2011Pacific Retirement Services, Inc. (PRS), a not-for-profit national leader in the senior housing and healthcare industry, is pleased to announce that Becky Snyder, the director of its community outreach program, received two awards in 2010:

  • Jackson County Community Service Award:  Ms. Snyder accepted the award at a special ceremony held at the County Commissioner’s meeting on January 12, 2011. Community Service Awards are presented monthly to recognize local organizations or individuals who have displayed exceptional volunteer service to the community of Jackson County. 
  • NSCA Board Appointment: On August 31, 2010, Ms. Snyder was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Foster Grandparent Program Committee, where she represents the Pacific U.S. region. Her term ends on June 30, 2011; however, the board plans to nominate her for another term. The NSCA advocates for and supports the needs of Senior Corps volunteer programs nationwide: the Foster Grandparent Program, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (known as RSVP), and the Senior Companion program.

Ms. Snyder is a national leader of volunteerism, also serving in these capacities:

  • Oregon Voluntary Action and Service Commission: On October 1, 2008, she was appointed by previous Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski to serve a three-year term. The OVASC promotes and supports AmeriCorps, volunteerism, and civic engagement to strengthen Oregon communities.
  • United Way of Jackson County: Ms. Snyder has served for more than 14 years as Campaign Division Chair of the Volunteer Engagement Committee. United Way of Jackson County is an active community organizer working to produce long-lasting change in the areas of education for children, income for families, and improved health for all citizens. 
  • Oregon Mentors State Provider Council: She has served as councilmember since 2007, supporting the council’s work to expand positive life opportunities for young Oregonians by connecting them with caring mentors.
